A 25-year-old man who beat first degree murder charges six months ago is back behind bars.
Owen Anthony Smith was charged in the shooting death of 18-year-old Abdikarim Abdikarim in March 2008. The brutal point-blank shooting in Lawrence Heights was caught on surveillance video, but the case was dismissed after none of the witnesses would agree to testify.
Smith has now been charged in the armed robbery of upscale clothing store Gabbana Boutique in Yorkville. Although the incident occurred back in July, police only caught up with him last week.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
