There was already a buzz in the air Saturday morning as artists and volunteers were out setting up for what has become one of the biggest events on the city’s festival calendar.
Nuit Blanche – the one night Torontonians get to stay up past their bedtime – kicks off on Saturday at 6:55pm and wraps up at sunrise on Sunday.
Close to 500 contemporary artists will take over not only the art galleries and museums, but also churches, bus stations and even chimney stacks.
“It’s truly astounding to see so many people venturing out into the streets in the middle of the night, and all in search of new experiences with art, with each other, and with their creative city,” Mayor David Miller said in a statement.
Centred around three downtown zones, exhibits range from participants using pedal-power to light up the Berczy Park Fountain to a blindfolded, steel-cage battle inside the Toronto Coach Terminal.
