Roof Of Heritage Property Collapses In Four-Alarm Fire

Crews battled a four-alarm blaze at a multimillion-dollar heritage property near Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East Friday afternoon.

The fire started shortly before 4pm on the upper floors of the building on Chedington Place next to the York University Glendon Campus.

Firefighters were forced to battle the blaze from outside the building because the structure was deemed unsafe.

The three-storey home was built in the 1940s and was being used as office space. No one was inside when the blaze broke out.

One firefighter was taken to hospital with minor injuries. So far, there’s no word on a cause.
