Durham Police Issue Warning About Violent Offender

A 24-year-old man with a history of violent sex attacks was released from prison Thursday and Durham police say he plans to live in Whitby.

Daniel Alexander Crawford is now a free man after serving a four-year, three-month sentence for forcible confinement and sexual assault involving a 20-year-old woman in Toronto.

Crawford’s case was reviewed by Durham Police’s High Risk Offender Community Panel that decided to issue a community alert regarding his release. Police say they plan to keep tabs on him.

Authorities say the convict has a history of violence, including sex assaults, and substance abuse. Because he’s served his sentence they won’t tell the public exactly where he plans to reside, only that he wants to live in Whitby.
