Hazardous material in checked bag sickens two U.S. airport workers

Two transportation safety workers have been hospitalized, Tuesday, after hazardous material was found in a checked bag at the Meadows Field Airport in Bakersfield, Calif.

The airport, which is located about 110 miles north of Los Angeles, has been evacuated and flights have been suspended.

Local TV reports said the substance sickened two transportation security administration officials, prompting authorities to evacuate the airport and divert all flights to Los Angeles International Airport.

The New York Post reports bomb squads and FBI agents are now on the scene to search the terminal and question witnesses.
