NDP Announces Candidate To Replace Smitherman In Toronto-Centre

Toronto voters will be going to the polls at least twice this year: we’ll elect a new mayor in October, and some of us will see a new member of provincial parliament at Queen’s Park.

MPP George Smitherman resigned his position as the representative for Toronto-Centre to run for mayor of Toronto.

While the provincial by-election has yet to be announced, the New Democratic Party has announced their candidate.

Nurse and affordable housing activist Cathy Crowe scored the nomination.

Meanwhile, former Winnipeg mayor Glen Murray is expected to get the nod from the Liberals.

The Progressive Conservatives have not yet announced their candidate.
