Man Arrested Following Hit & Run, Elderly Man Latest In Spate Of Pedestrian Fatalities

A deadly spate of traffic accidents has claimed the lives of eight pedestrians in seven days, including a hit and run in Mississauga that killed an elderly man. Peel Police have arrested the suspect in that case.

Charles Woods, 75, was struck and killed around 10pm Monday while he was crossing at Lakeshore and Cumberland.

According to witnesses, the driver did not stop after the crash. Dominik Banka, 28, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon.

Hours earlier, a 60-year-old pedestrian was also killed in Toronto. The woman was struck by a TTC bus around 7am at Mt. Pleasant and Eglinton.

And just a day earlier, yet another fatal traffic accident in Mississauga killed a 54-year-old man who was hit by a truck while walking with his wife and four-year-old son at Hurontario and the Queensway.
