People forced to buy temporary TTC tickets introduced late last year will now be able to get a refund for any they haven’t used.
The transit body suspended token sales in November after news of a fare hike led to widespread hoarding and a five-token restriction did little to curb the problem.
The tickets expire at the end of the month and – although the TTC originally said they would not take them back – can now be returned or exchanged until March 31.
Starting February 1, riders can take their tickets to the south entrance of Bloor-Yonge or to Davisville station between 7am and 7pm.
Those with a large number of tickets will have to wait for the TTC to verify the authenticity before they receive a cheque in the mail.
Since January 3rd, when prices went up, riders have had to drop an additional 25 cents into the fare box with their ticket.
