Charge against Brampton, Ont., man upgraded after shooting victim dies

A shooting victim from Brampton. Ont., has died in hospital, and investigators will be seeking to upgrade the charges against the suspect.

Police say the shooting happened when the victim and suspect were involved in an argument at a Brampton home on Sunday.

Vachon Tatchell, 21, was rushed to a local hospital, and later transferred to a Toronto trauma centre. He has died of his injuries.

Kevin Phillips, 22, of Brampton, was arrested on Monday and charged with aggravated assault.

He will make a court appearance on Feb. 3, when police say his charge will be upgraded to second-degree murder.
