A man has died following a crash Tuesday morning in York Region.
The collision happened near Jane Street and Major Mackenzie around 10:35am and involved a fire truck responding to an emergency call.
“These fire trucks can’t stop on a dime,” lamented York Police Const. Gary Phillips. “Unfortunately we have a senseless accident.”
The 54-year-old victim was treated by the fire crew on scene and then rushed to a Toronto hospital via air ambulance, but it was too late.
York Regional Police shut down the off-ramp from the northbound Hwy. 400 to Major Mackenzie Drive West, and Major Mackenzie Drive West was also closed in both directions at that intersection.
