Tour Bus Passenger Charged With Threatening Death

Police have arrested a Toronto man who they say became belligerent after lighting up a cigarette on a Niagara Falls-bound tour bus.

Shortly before 9pm Wednesday, shortly after the bus left Toronto, the 41-year-old accused drew criticism from fellow passengers when he started smoking.

The man became upset and argumentative, allegedly threatening to shoot and kill two of the passengers, who happened to be off-duty police officers, and claiming he had a bomb.

Two other off-duty officers arrested the man who reportedly tried to bite them as they waited on the QEW near Dixie Road for more police to arrive.

A bomb unit did a quick search of the bus and found no trace of explosives.

Jason Montour has been charged with assault, uttering death threats and causing a disturbance. He is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
