Power plant plans in Oakville put on hold
Plans to build a 900-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant on the edge of Oakville has been put on hold.
A town committee has denied applications to transfer the land on Royal Windsor Drive from Ford to Transcanada Energy.
Oakville mayor Rob Burton said the site is just 350 metres from homes and a school.
While he is pleased at the temporary reprieve he told The Globe and Mail the committee decision can be appealled to the ontario municipal board which could approve construction.
