Charges Laid In Don Jail Murder

An arrest has been made in the city’s first homicide in 2010.
Said Mohamed, 22 is charged with second degree murder in the death of Kevon Phillip, 24, (pictured) at the Don Jail on January second.
Phillip was found unconscious at the Gerrard Street prison, suffering from obvious signs of trauma. He later died at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Mohamed will be appearing in court at College Park On Thursday at 10 a.m.
Phillip was being held in the Don Jail pending an immigration hearing. He had allegedly racked up 25 prior convictions, including seven for possession of property obtained by crime.
There’s no word on what motivated this murder.
