SMITHVILLE, Ont. – Police have blocked off an area of Smithville near St. Catharines, Ont., where a number of small propane tanks exploded on Thursday afternoon.
A man who works at a nearby business says several barbecue propane tanks exploded at Superior Propane.
They ignited the plastic skids they were on.
The man says the fire did not threaten larger propane storage tanks on the property.
There are no reports of injuries, but police have cordoned off the area.
The cause of the blasts is not known.
