Two suffer minor injuries after apartment fire

TORONTO, Ont. – Two people suffered minor smoke inhalation after a two alarm blaze broke out at an apartment in the Finch Avenue East and Leslie Street area.

The fire broke out at 3 Brahms Avenue shortly after 7 a.m., Saturday.

Toronto fire were able to quickly get the blaze under control.

An 18-year-old male and his 47-year-old mother suffered minor smoke inhalation and were transported to hospital.

Toronto fire told 680News, investigators believe the fire was caused by the improper disposal of a cigarette on a 7th floor balcony, which then fell to the balcony below.  The fire then spread to the 5th floor balcony, where it ignited stored paint cans and paper.

Damage to the building is estimated at $75-thousand.
