Long Weekend Boaters Now Need Card

Thousands of boaters are apparently scrambling to get their mandatory pleasure craft operator cards for the long weekend.
The decade-long phase-in period for the new rule ended last fall, but several mariners still haven’t passed the test to receive the required credentials to navigate the waters for the long weekend, according to a published report.
Transport Canada claims up to 3 million boaters still haven’t passed the test.
Marine police officers will be out in force on the province’s waterways to ensure people driving recreational boats have their card. If they don’t they’ll get a $250 fine.
The founder of BoaterExam.com, Brent McNamee, says his company has been flooded by requests for the 36-question test.
