Smitherman promising new subway lines if elected mayor

TORONTO – One of the frontrunners for the Toronto mayoral race promises he will build more subway lines if he is elected.

Thestar.com reported George Smitherman promises new lines across Sheppard, one to Sherway Gardens, and another out to Scarborough.

The new lines would be a part of Smitherman’s ten year, $17 billion transportation plan.

The mayoral hopeful insisted the money would come from the private sector.
