Man charged with second-degree murder in death of 16-year-old Justice Ferrigno

TORONTO, Ont. – Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Justice Ferrigno.

Police said Jonathan Cioppa has been charged with second-degree murder.

Ferrigno was stabbed during a street confrontation near the park area of Hillcrest Junior Public School, in the Casa Loma area, on June 12.

Ferrigno was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

This is the city’s 20th homicide of the year.

Cioppa made a brief court appearance Tuesday morning, but the court proceedings cannot be discussed due to a publication ban.

He will be making another court appearance in July.
