TORONTO, Ont. – Send your little girl outside to play, and she may thank you later.
A new study shows playing outside as a youngster helps women avoid dementia in later life.
After looking at the exercise habits of more than 9,000 women in their teens, and then 30’s, 50’s and late life, researchers at Sunnybrook found a link between exercise in adolescence, and fewer cases of senility in older women.
The final numbers showed 17 percent of those less active during their youth had symptoms of dementia, while only 8.5 percent of those who were more active showed signs of senility.
