Giorgio Mammoliti has dropped out of the race for Mayor. Instead, he will run for a seat on Toronto’s city council.
Mammoliti made the announcement at a restaurant on Monday. He hopes to once again represent Ward 7, York West, a riding he has held since 1997.
He entered the mayoral race on January 5, filing the necessary paperwork at City Hall. His campaign included eliminating property tax for low-income seniors and arming by-law officers.
Mammoliti has consistently finished last in opinion polls behind other candidates, including George Smitherman, Rob Ford, and Joe Pantalone.
