Actor Maury Chaykin Passes Away

Well known character actor Maury Chaykin has passed away at the age of 61.  

Chaykin died early Tuesday morning at Toronto General Hospital, his manager, Paul Hemrend, confirmed.  

His death comes on the same day he was born, July 27th.  

Chaykin, who was born in New York to an American father and Canadian mother, moved to Toronto and began his prolific acting career in the mid 70s, commencing with a guest role on the King of Kensington.

He went on to win a Gemini and Genie over a long career and his resume is highlighted by his roles in 1994’s Whale Music, and most recently on HBO Canada’s Less Than Kind.

He also made appearances on popular American shows like Entourage, C.S.I., and Boston Legal.

On the big screen he was a familiar face, with roles in Dances With Wolves, The Postman, Mystery, Alaska, A Life Less Ordinary, The Adjuster, and Owning Mahoney.

He is survived by his wife, actress Susannah Hoffman, and their daughter Rose.
