OTTAWA – People with wheat allergies are being asked not to eat Shopsy’s Original Recipe brand Jumbo Franks.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Maple Leaf Consumer Foods said the affected product contains wheat which is not declared on the label.
The Jumbo Franks, bearing an establishment number 611, include Shopsy’s Original Recipe Jumbo Franks in the 450-gram packages with best-before dates of September 6, 16 and 27.
The franks have been distributed in Ontario and so far, there have been no reported illnesses associated with eating them.
The federal agency said people with wheat allergies may have a life-threatening or other serious reaction if they eat the affected franks.
Maple Leaf Consumer Foods of Mississauga, Ont., is voluntarily recalling the product from the marketplace.
