Street Beat – August 24 – Industrial Accident In Markham

A 27-year-old man was injured while working in a ditch in Markham Tuesday morning.

It happened before 9am in the Kennedy Road and Highway 407 area.

Rescue workers freed the man, who had become trapped briefly while digging a ditch.

He was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not life-threatening.

Shots Fired On Flemington Road

Toronto Police are looking for multiple gunmen after shots were fired on Flemington Road on Monday night.

It happened near Stockton Road around 6:15pm.

Officers believe there was a shootout between two parties. No one was reported injured.


Three In Custody, Handgun Seized

Three people, including two young offenders, are in custody after a handgun was allegedly seized on Tuesday morning.

The trio is now facing 20 charges.

Officers were called to Empringham Drive just after midnight. They allegedly found approximately 20 males standing out front of a home.

Three of the men allegedly ran from police and into a home. They later surrendered. Police searched the home where they were found and allegedly seized a loaded .38 calibre revolver.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Probation
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Restricted Weapon Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
  • Weapons Dangerous.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with:

  • Fail to Comply Recognizance
  • Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Restricted Weapon Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
  • Weapons Dangerous.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Probation
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Restricted Weapon Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
  • Weapons Dangerous

The names of the accused cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.


Teen Charged In Armed Robbery Case

A 13-year-old boy has been charged in connection with an armed robbery in the Keele St. and Steeles Ave. West area.

Police say that on Monday, two pizza delivery men, in their 20s made a delivery to a house on The Chimneystack Rd.

One of the men was approached by the young suspect and asked to see the food. The suspect then pulled out a gun, pointing it to his head and robbing him of the food, a cellphone and a quantity of cash.

A second suspect approached the delivery car, pointing the gun at a second victim and robbing him of a cellphone and cash.

The 13-year-old boy, of Toronto, has been charged with Robbery while Armed with a Firearm. He was scheduled to appear at the Finch Avenue courthouse Tuesday morning.

The name of the accused cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
