TORONTO, Ont. – Police are seeking the public’s assistance in recovering nearly $1-million worth of stolen jewelry.
Among the stolen items: a 5.16-carat diamond ring worth $200,000. It was stolen from a Queen Street West jewelry business at gunpoint in January.
Detectives called it a very unique ring, one that the suspects specifically requested from the jeweller.
Det. Darlene Ross from Crime Stoppers said when the suspects finally went to pick up the diamond in January with fraudulent bank cheques, it turned into a holdup.
“Suddenly lunged at the victim, took him to the ground, drew a firearm on him. They duct taped him, his hands and feet, his mouth, and then made off with not only this particular ring, but approximately $600,000 worth of other jewellery,” she said.
Davide Compagnoni, 41, Marco Cipollone, 34, Antonio Bandiera, 35, and Andrew Gordon, 34, are facing numerous charges, including robbery while armed and forcible confinement.
