With election day looming over Torontonians, mayoral candidate and incumbent Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone has remained steadfast in the face of calls from some progressives to drop out of the race in an attempt to keep conservative candidate Rob Ford out of City Hall. In a conversation with The Mark’s politics editor, Alex Derry, Pantalone outlines the differences between his platform and that of his two remaining opponents. He also explains the rationale behind his new economic platform, which calls for increased spending and a 2.5-per cent hike in property taxes to protect city services and create jobs.
