Ford wins Toronto mayor’s race

TORONTO, Ont. – The gravy train will come to an end according to Toronto’s new mayor-elect Rob Ford.
Ford was announced the winner with approximately 50 per cent of the vote, Monday night, after a 10 month campaign.
Supporters celebrated at the Toronto Congress Centre for the mayoral victory party.

Ford was cheered like a rock star when he entered, some supporters had tears in their eyes.
Federal Financial Minister Jim Flaherty was in the crowd and said this victory says a lot about voter sentiment in the city.
“I think in the city of Toronto there was a lot of waste, that was pretty obvious to everybody. And Rob tapped into that and said I’m not going to do that anymore. I think people responded. Half the people in Toronto voted for him. I get it. Good for him,” Flaherty told 680News.
Many supporters blew wooden whistles that had been handed out to signify Ford’s promise to end, what he calls, the gravy train down at city hall.
