Fitness company offers to get mayor-elect fit

TORONTO, Ont. – With Rob Ford’s main campaign message of “cutting the fat” at city hall, a Toronto-based fitness company has the goal of trimming the mayor-elect’s waistline.

Nielsen Fitness is trying to convince Ford to take up the free offer. Company president  Poul Nielsen has a clear goal in mind.

“If Ford really wants to go gung-ho on this he can easily lose 25 pounds every quarter, so within a year he could lose 100 pounds,” Nielsen told 680News.

Political analysts believe a slim down will only help Ford’s image, including Ryerson University political science professor Patrice Dutil.

“If he can lead by example in every aspect, this will be an advantage to his tenure. It will be something that will rally more Torontonians to him,” Dutil told 680News.

The mayor-elect has not yet accepted the offer.
