Police Name Suspect In Fatal Hit And Run

Police have named a suspect in connection to a weekend hit-and-run that killed 20-year-old Vincent Dang.

Naveen Ariaratnam, 26, is wanted for Second Degree Murder in Dang’s death.

Officers allege Dang and another group of men were involved in a fight inside Rockwood Nightclub at 31 Mercer around 2:30am Sunday morning.

The altercation spilled into the streets. The suspect allegedly then got into his car, a full-sized dark grey SUV.  Police contend he drove eastbound on Wellington St. before making a U-turn and driving straight towards Dang.

Dang was on the north sidewalk with friends before he was struck.

 

 

After hitting Dang, police say the suspect’s vehicle continued southbound on Blue Jays Way.

Police have maintained there were three to five people in the car with the suspect at the time of Dang’s murder, but there’s no word on their identity or any charges they may be facing.

With their son now the city’s 57th murder victim of 2010, Dang’s parents are devastated.

“So many people get hurt and shocked with the news that Vincent dead,” said his mother Hien Nguyen.

“My son have opportunities to pursue what he want to do, but unfortunately he almost get it and he gone,” said his father Hyun Dang.

Vincent was supposed to be spending Saturday night celebrating his mother’s birthday.
