Ford wants to hire more cops, TPS doesn’t want them: report

Mayor Rob Ford wants to hire 100 new police officers but it seems the Toronto Police Service doesn’t want them.

The Toronto Star has reported high-ranking police officials are questioning why the mayor made the pricey pledge without consulting police management or the union about spending priorities.

Both the head of the police board and the head of the union told The Star staffing levels are adequate but the current police budget is not.
