VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A group of protesters has packed into the SFU Segal Business School this afternoon, where the Board of Governors is meeting.
The university is getting a $10 million donation from Goldcorp and renaming its new arts complex the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts.
Christina Bielek works with the SFU Graduate Students Society and says they’re not pleased with a new naming plan. “We are opposed to a $10 million donation from Goldcorp Inc. to SFU as well as the increasing privatization of our university and our public education.”
Bielek claims they’ve tried to get their concern onto the Board’s meeting agenda several times, but that hasn’t worked.
