PARKSVILLE (NEWS1130) -Ed Mayne is the second BC Liberal leadership candidate to back out of the race.
The former Parksville Mayor is following yesterday’s lead by Moira Stilwell. Both candidates have thrown their support behind George Abbott.
Mayne says it wasn’t an easy decision. “You have to have the courage to make the right decisions at the right time, and this is the right time.”
He thanked his campaign members, who are saddened by the news. Meanwhile, you can’t blame Abbott for boasting a bit. “I just wanted to say this — let’s hope we can keep meeting like this! I’m loving this!”
Abbott says Mayne brings valuable business and municipal experience to his team, as well as fresh ideas for social policies.
Four liberal leadership contenders remain: Abbott, Kevin Falcon, Mike de Jong and Christy Clark. News1130 will have extensive coverage when the BC Liberals choose our new premier February 26th.
