Part of Yonge subway to close this weekend

The TTC is warning riders to expect delays this weekend as it shuts down part of the Yonge subway line for construction.

Starting Saturday, the Yonge subway line will be closed between Bloor and Union stations to lay tracks for a crossover section at College.

There are now only two such passageways available – at Bloor-Yonge and Union stations – which allow trains to turn around during emergencies.

Southbound Yonge trains will turn back at Bloor and southbound University-Spadina trains will turn back at Union until Monday morning.

Riders can take a Yonge Street shuttle bus, which will stop at Bloor, Wellesley, College/Carlton, Dundas, Queen, King, and Front at Bay. But the TTC is encouraging people to give priority to passengers with special needs and use the University line if possible.

It’s the third and final time the TTC will have to close the line for this project.
