American Bo Van Pelt has taken the lead at the RBC Canadian Open, but Canada’s Adam Hadwin will head into Sunday’s final round just one stroke back.
Van Pelt shot a blistering five-under 65 during Saturday’s third round of the US$5.2-million tournament.
Van Pelt had six birdies on the back nine to finish at 5 under after 54 holes on the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club course.
Hadwin, of Abbotsford, B.C., drifted wide on a 14-foot birdie putt on the 18th which would have left him tied for the lead. He finished the round with a 68 and is 4 under for the tournament.
No Canadian has won the tournament since Pat Fletcher in 1954.
