TORONTO, Ont. – There was certainly no treat for the owner of the Amazing Party and Costume Store in Etobicoke this weekend, after the store was forced closed for a police investigation into three suspicious packages.
The owner of the store, located on Oxford Street, near Islington Avenue and the Gardiner Expressway, estimates the weekend closure cost him half-a-million dollars in sales.
The store is set to re-open Monday morning, and the owner hopes he can make up some of his lost sales at the last minute with a 50 per cent off sale.
The store was closed after the police located three suspicious devices, at least two of which are believed to contain some sort of explosive material.
“I can’t really comment on that, because that’s part of the investigation, so at this point I’d rather not many any comments about what we found there,” police said. “I can tell you that there was a third device, we have dismantled it, it is safe and we are continuing our investigation.”
The investigation includes, of course, who planted the devices and why, as well as why they would plant it during the busiest season of the year.
