St. James Park restoration to begin this week after sod donated

TORONTO, Ont. –  Fixing the damage done to St. James Park by Occupy Toronto protesters will not cost city taxpayers a thing.

Councillor Pam McConnell’s office said, Tuesday, that Landscape Ontario and the Ontario Sod Growers Association will restore the grass, free of charge.

Volunteers from the organizations will prep the site on Wednesday.

Twelve tractor-trailer loads of sod will be unloaded in the park on Thursday.

Lane closures on King Street East and Adelaide around the park will take place to accommodate the work vehicles on both days.

Councillor McConnell said a separate donation made through Occupy Toronto to the BIA will be put toward a new holiday lighting program for the park.
