Niagara Falls motel owner claims high school students trashed rooms

A Niagara Falls motel owner is claiming high school students caused up to $100,000 in damage during a party on Dec. 9.

David Linqi Liu, who owns the Avenue Inn on Lundy’s Lane, said through his son that 22 rooms were damaged.

The teenagers were there for an after-party following a semi-formal dance.

The damage was excessive: massive holes were left in the walls, sinks were ripped from the bathroom, and ceiling vents were torn down.

Several of the students later posted photos of the destruction on Facebook.

Niagara Regional Police told the St. Catharines Standard newspaper that the issue is a civil matter, and the students likely won’t be criminally charged, because registered guests enter into a civil arrangement between themselves and the hotel.
