SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs signed Canadian guard Cory Joseph on Friday.

The Spurs selected the 20-year-old from Pickering, Ont., with the 29th overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft.

Joseph averaged 10.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists in his only season at the University of Texas before entering the draft earlier this year.

The six-foot-three, 185-pound guard was named to the Big 12 All-Rookie Team and earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.

Joseph will wear No. 5 for San Antonio, as he did in the NCAA.

The Spurs do not release the specific details of player contracts.
