Penguins’ Engelland faces hearing for hit

Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Deryk Engelland will face a hearing with the National Hockey League’s head disciplinarian, Brendan Shanahan, for his hit on Chicago Blackhawks centre Marcus Kruger.
During the first period of Tuesday night’s Penguins-Blackhawks game, Kruger got tied up with the Penguins’ Pascal Dupuis as he broke into Pittsburgh’s zone. Engelland skated across ice and delivered a high hit that sent a vulnerable Kruger into the boards.
Engelland, who was not penalized on the play, dropped the gloves with large Chicago defenceman John Scott, who came to his teammate’s defence after the hit.
Engelland has 10 points and 30 penalty minutes in his 32 games for the Penguins this season.
