Getaway day at Pearson

TORONTO, Ont. – Heading out of town for the holidays? You won’t be alone.
Friday and Saturday will be two of the busiest days of the year for travel, with 100,000 people expected to pass through Pearson International Airport on Friday alone.
The airport is trying to make the journey as festive as possible. Carollers will be in the terminals along with Mrs. Claus reading stories, and there is a section where families can have their picture taken in a holiday setting.
Airport ambassadors are also giving out candy canes and red Rudolph noses.
Passengers travelling with gifts are reminded to leave them unwrapped, should security have to inspect them.
Thursday saw the beginning of the travel rush, but some said they had no problems getting around in the Christmas rush.
“(It was) crowded but we had no problem. We got here in about twenty minutes. It was easy,” one woman said.
Others were not as lucky.
“I got here an hour and a half early, I missed my flight so now I’m on standby,” one man said.
