1 dead after Hwy. 401 crash

One person has been killed in a crash that temporarily shut down the westbound express lanes of Highway 401 Tuesday night.
The lanes were closed at around 8:45 p.m. and re-opened around 10:45 p.m.
OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford tells CityNews tells CityNews the incident was a two-vehicle crash between a tractor trailer and a second vehicle.
The driver of the tractor trailer pulled over onto the right shoulder to clear his windshield wipers, when for an unknown reason, the driver of the second vehicle lost control, striking the tractor trailer.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 23-year-old man, was rushed to hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Three other occupants of the vehicle suffered serious injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer wasn’t injured.
Police say the victim’s identity will not be released until next of kin has been notified.
