Bills fire defensive co-ordinator, hire from within

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey says defensive co-ordinator George Edwards has been fired and replaced by Dave Wannstedt.
Wannstedt takes over after spending the past season as the team’s assistant head coach while also responsible for inside linebackers. He is a defensive specialist who previously served as head coach at Chicago and Miami.
Edwards had just completed his second season at the position.
The move was made Monday, a day after the Bills (6-10) closed their season with a 49-21 loss to the New England Patriots.
The Bills allowed a franchise-worst 5,938 yards this season, and the 434 points they gave up was the second-worst in team history.
Gailey made the move because he needs better production from a defence that allowed 400 yards eight times this season.
