TORONTO, Ont. – Rob Ford may be rooting for the NFL to come to Toronto, but he now has another wish.
During a Maple Leafs outdoor practice Wednesday, the Mayor mentioned he is among the city’s hockey fans who would love to see the Winter Classic played in the Big Smoke.
According to the Toronto Star, he told reporters his dream match up involves the Leafs and the Canadiens playing at the federally-owned Downsview Park.
Toronto has already lobbied to host the outdoor annual game, but one hurdle may be broadcaster NBC’s fears of losing an American audience if it’s played north of the border.
TV ratings for this Monday’s game were lower in the U.S. than the previous three years.
