Ontario’s elderly can now renew health cards by mail

Ontarians 80 years and older can now renew their health cards by mail.

Those who qualify can complete their renewal notices and return them to ServiceOntario in the envelope provided.

The government says the change means older seniors won’t have to wait in lines or contend with winter weather for the routine procedure.

“Renewing your health card in a timely fashion is even more important as we age,” said government services minister Harinder S. Takhar. “By allowing eligible seniors to renew their health cards by mail, we’re making life just a little bit easier for Ontario’s older seniors and their caregivers.”

Seniors who want to renew their health cards in person can still do so at a ServiceOntario centre.
