Get ready for an even larger ‘extra large’ at Tim Horton’s

Tim Hortons is set to unveil its new 710 ml cups next week, which will have an effect on the other sizes available at the popular coffee chain.

The 236 ml small will be eliminated on Jan. 23, and the medium will now become the small.

If you liked ordering a small, it’s now an extra-small.

The sizes will match those in the United States, where the 236 ml small was rarely used.

“The prices haven’t changed per ounce – it’s just the names,” spokesperson Nick Javor told CityNews.ca in August.

The new, larger, sizes were first introduced in Kingston and Sudbury this past summer. The company said the customer response was overwhelmingly positive.

“Our guests also told us that they love our small eight-ounce cup, so we will continue to offer that size,” Dave McKay, director of brand marketing, said in a statement Monday.

The cup-size shift also brings Tim Hortons sizes more in-line with competitors including Starbucks, Second Cup and McDonalds.
