WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-signed safety Brady Browne on Wednesday.
The five-foot-10, 207-pound native of Maple Ridge, B.C., was scheduled to become a free agent next week.
“Not only does Brady excel at the special teams aspect of the game, but he also gives us great depth at the safety position,” general manager Joe Mack said in a statement. “We’re happy to have him back in Winnipeg.”
Browne suffered a torn bicep in the team’s first game last year and spent the remainder of the regular season on the injured list. He returned to the lineup for the playoffs, taking part in both the East Division final and Grey Cup, registering a special-teams tackle in the championship game.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Winnipeg healthy and do my part to get the Blue Bombers back to the Grey Cup game,” said Browne.
Winnipeg also signed non-import running back Anthony Woodson.
