Wild’s Peters suspended for cross-check

Minnesota Wild forward Warren Peters has been suspended for one game, without pay, for his cross-check on St. Louis Blues forward David Backes on Saturday.
The incident occurred with 3:30 left in the game after Peters and two Wild teammates mobbed Backes after the whistle in retaliation to a hit by the Blues captain moments earlier.

“I’ve got to be more responsible with my stick,” Peters said after the game. “There was in no way malicious intent to go to his head. But my stick made contact with the side of his head so I’ll take the consequences.”
Barret Jackman broke a league-high 150-game scoreless drought and Brian Elliott made 13 saves to lead the Blues to a 4-0 win over the Wild.
