At the end of a long day at work, it can be difficult to find the energy to pull on the track pants and go for a run or get to the gym.
A new study suggests that consistent weekly exercise may actually be the key to prevent you from getting that tired in the first place.
The study, from Tel Aviv University, found that employees who exercised a few times a week were half as likely to experience a decline in mental health than those who didn’t exercise.
The magic number for the researchers was four hours a week, which gave the most benefit in lowering the chances of burning out or even suffering from depression.
One of the study authors notes employers thinking ahead would benefit by building or subsidizing memberships to gyms to make exercise more available to employees.
While it would be expensive, the author argues the long-term benefits could pay dividends for the companies in the long run.
