Truck crashes into Harvey’s in Niagara Falls

A pickup truck crashed into a Harvey’s restaurant in Niagara Falls, Ont., on Monday afternoon hitting three people.

A 70-year-old man with life-threatening injuries was flown by air ambulance to Hamilton general hospital. Another man and a woman sustained only minor injuries.

The woman was freed after being pinned under the vehicle. Both were taken to local hospitals as a precaution.

“She was actually pinned underneath the truck,” said Sgt. Darrin Forbes. “They were able to get her out, and miraculously she was relatively uninjured.”

The driver of the silver Ford F150 pickup truck was an 80-year-old man who turned into the restaurant on Lundy’s Lane at 2:30 p.m. and inexplicably accelerated, police told CityNews.

He was taken to Greater Niagara General hospital with minor injuries. His passenger wasn’t injured in the incident.

Police say it doesn’t appear that the driver suffered any medical issues. An investigation is ongoing.
