Ford keeps subway dream alive

Mayor Rob Ford is scrambling to keep his dream of extending the Sheppard subway line alive.
Ahead of a special council meeting on transit which will take place on March 15, the mayor held a closed-door meeting with more than a dozen developers, the board of trade, Build Toronto and city officials, Wednesday.
He told reporters after the meeting every single developer at the table supports subways.
“I said if you’re against it let us know. Not one person, not one developer said we’re against it. As a united group they came out and said we want subways in the city, you’re on the right path and we can afford it,” said Ford.
An expert panel was put together earlier this month to study transit options for Sheppard Avenue East and there has speculation the panel is leaning toward light rail.
