Temperatures soar to record levels in Toronto

Torontonians were basking in record temperatures on Wednesday as the mercury soared to 16.7 C, tying the record set in 1987.
Many people spent the day enjoying warm weather.
“I don’t believe I was sitting outside in just a sweater in March,” said Kassandra Ferraro, who was soaking up the sunshine at Yonge Dundas Square.
“It’s so relaxing now, after the extreme chill,” said another reveler.
With the warm temps came powerful winds, clocking in at just under 60 km/h.
The spring-like conditions won’t last long though.
A cold front will begin to move into southern Ontario on Thursday and, “by Friday it will feel more like winter,” CityNews meteorologist Adam Stiles warned.
There’s also the chance of rain and thunderstorms.
But things could pick up just in time for the weekend. Sunny skies are expected for both Saturday and Sunday, with highs of 6 C and 12 C.
In addition, the city will be a little brighter this weekend, with a return to Daylight Savings Time. The clocks spring forward ahead to Daylight Saving Time at 2 a.m. on Sunday, meaning we lose an hour of sleep.
